Designed in Oak is a company established in The New Forest by James Palmer. James draws on a wealth of knowledge and experience in the oak framing business across two decades working with home owners, builders and commercial clients alike across the south of England.
Together with skilled, experienced partners carefully chosen over a 20 year period, we offer a full ‘concept to completion’ service.
So regardless if you have full planning drawings or just an idea of what you require, we can work with you to deliver an ‘on budget’ and ‘on time’ solution. We are happy to use our experience to project manage allowing you to relax whilst we bring all the trades and services together.
Looking after you
& your oak building
We manufacture traditional oak frames using either unseasoned or seasoned oak to suit the application all subject to structural engineering calculations and building regulations approval (where applicable). Mortise and tenon connections are used throughout the frame, and these together with tried and tested joints provide a stable and reliable frame for all our buildings.
Once we have completed your bespoke oak framed building, and have formally signed the structure off with you, we provide ongoing support and contact should you need any further advice during the life of your building.
We are very mindful of the waste produced from building in the UK and work very hard to ensure we source all of our materials from sustainable sources. We also aim to recycle everything possible from the site making us as green as possible.
